Superintendent's Message

TO:  All Buchanan County Parents, Students, Community, and School Personnel

As we begin the school year 2013-2014, we are faced with many challenges that besiege our school system as a result of the loss of federal and state funding.  However, education and teaching are not "jobs", but are human services and must be thought of as a "MISSION", and we will accomplish our educational objectives!!!  The Buchanan County School System from the School Board to everyone who is a part of the educational team will ensure that
this school year will not be hampered by a loss of funds and stress that "LEARNING IS NOT OBTAINED BY CHANCE, BUT IT MUST BE SOUGHT AFTER WITH DILIGENCE AND SUPPORTED BY EVERYONE---TEACHERS, PARENTS AND STUDENTS."  Every individual matters; every individual has a role to play; every individual makes a difference.  The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their entire lives by giving them the foundation to accomplish their educational and career goals.  I encourage parents and teachers to work as a unified team in helping our students master their potential and talents, achieve their dreams, and release their skills and knowledge to achieve their utmost.

To quote Socrates, "The only good is knowledge, and the only evil is ignorance:, but we must add one other quote from Winston Churchill,
"we make a living by what we get; but we make a life by what we give" to give education the proper perspective.  Knowledge is what drives education
and giving is what makes it achieve.  By parents and teachers working together we can achieve our educational objectives for or children and help them realize the achievement necessary for a strong future for themselves and their families.

Just remember, if children live with acceptance, they find love.  If they live with encouragement, they learn confidence.  If they live with approval, they
learn to like themselves.  All it takes to praise a child is a big smile from you (parents and teachers) so give them acceptance, encouragement, praise,
caring, and approval and watch them succeed this school year.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A CHILD'S LIFE THIS SCHOOL YEAR!!!!!!!

   Thank you.
